Official Resignation

If you need to terminate your position, there are few but important points that you should always include in your written termination.

Please note that this article is based on employee termination. If you are an employer and want to know the rules for termination of an employee, you can read more here.

Should I submit a written resignation?

As a general rule, it is always a good idea to notify your termination in writing to your employer as it documents that your termination has taken place. In addition to a written termination, it is also appropriate to receive a written confirmation that your employer has received your termination. In this way, there can be no doubt that the termination has been notified and received.

Should I justify my resignation?

As an employee, you have no obligation to justify your termination, even if your employer asks about this. Similarly, if you terminate your position due to a new job, you are not required to provide details about a new workplace. However, you may want to justify your resignation, which can often be advantageous if you have been satisfied with your job and / or your boss. So how elaborate you want to be in connection with your resignation is up to you.

Am I entitled to a recommendation when I have resigned myself?

You are not entitled to a recommendation from your employer, whether you have resigned your position or your employer has terminated you. It is therefore up to your employer whether he or she will give you a written recommendation.
