However, this type of power of attorney can also be used in the event that, for example, the recipient of the power of attorney does not speak Danish.

What is a power of attorney in English?

The English proxy covers the same legal matters as the Danish power of attorney. That is, the document allows you to allow another person ( agent ) to act on your behalf within the limits described in the power of attorney. The only difference is that the document is designed in English so that people who do not speak Danish can read and understand the content. The power of attorney can therefore also be used at home if, for example, the proxy does not speak Danish.

In which countries do they accept power of attorney in English?

Please note that the recipient of a power of attorney is never required to accept the power of attorney – whether you make the power of attorney with the DKkonsult or elsewhere. Whether the DKkonsult’s power of attorney in English will be accepted by the recipient depends entirely on the recipient ( person, company, public authority ) and partly on the legal requirements of the country concerned for proxies.

DKkonsult cannot therefore guarantee that the power of attorney will be accepted by any recipient. If you know exactly what the power of attorney should be used for, it may be a good idea to contact the recipient and ensure that he will accept a power of attorney in English.

General power or special power?

When making a power of attorney, always choose the type of power of attorney you want. You must choose between a general power of attorney or a special power of attorney.

General Power

With a general power of attorney, the clerk ( you give the power of attorney to ) can generally act on your behalf in all matters. The general power thus gives a lot of flexibility, as the clerk will be able to perform several actions on your behalf. For example, a general power of attorney may be relevant if you are hospitalized or abroad and want your partner or close family to be able to act on your behalf in your absence.

Special Power

Contrary to the general power of attorney, the special power of attorney is only allowed to perform specified tasks on behalf of the proxy. The special power is thus preferable if you have to have a specific task, such as having sold your house or if someone else, for example, has to meet on your behalf for a general meeting.

How do I make the English proxy valid?

Once you have completed the form and paid, you will immediately receive the power of attorney. The power of attorney must then be dated and signed by the proxy ( the person giving another right to act on his behalf ). The power of attorney will then be valid. There is thus no requirement for registration, legal assistance or the like. We recommend that you use knowledge when signing the power of attorney, but this is not a requirement.
